Bristol County Inmate Records and Jail Lookup

Bristol County inmate records are searched through official access channels rather than a public BCSO name roster. A Bristol County jail roster search begins with the sheriff's inmate information phone line, then moves to a public-records request, the Trial Court, Massachusetts DOC, BOP, or ICE when the person is outside county custody. Current jail records may involve Dartmouth House of Correction, the Dartmouth Women's Center, or Ash Street Jail and Regional Lock-Up, depending on booking, housing, court status, and release decisions.

Bristol County Jail Roster Overview

The central finding for Bristol County is straightforward: no official Bristol County Sheriff's Office public online jail roster, name-search inmate portal, daily booking list, or mugshot roster was found on official BCSO pages. The official current-custody channel is the inmate information phone line listed on the BCSO visitor information page: 508-995-6400 ext. 2535. Callers should have the person's full legal name, date of birth if known, arresting city or town, arresting agency if known, and possible facility.

BCSO operates county custody through the Bristol County House of Correction & Jail, the Dartmouth Women's Center, and Ash Street Jail and Regional Lock-Up. That system covers pretrial detainees, county-sentenced inmates, women in county custody, and regional lock-up detainees. It does not replace Massachusetts DOC for sentenced state prisoners, BOP for federal custody, or ICE ODLS for immigration custody.

The official BCSO visitor hub is the county source that lists the inmate information extension.

Because that page points to phone lookup rather than a roster search form, the phone and records fallback should lead any Bristol County inmate-record search.

How to Look Up a Bristol County Inmate

Use this official access chain instead of searching unofficial roster pages. It separates custody confirmation from public records and formal court records.

  1. Call BCSO inmate information at 508-995-6400 ext. 2535 for a current county-custody question.
  2. If the person was just arrested, mention the arresting city or department and ask whether Ash Street intake, Dartmouth, or the Women's Center is the right location.
  3. If the call cannot confirm custody, check the relevant Trial Court record because the person may have bailed, been released, transferred, or gone to arraignment.
  4. For non-online BCSO records, send a written request to RAO Michael C. Arnold at publicrecords@bcso-ma.org or 400 Faunce Corner Rd., N. Dartmouth, MA 02747.
  5. Use Mass.gov DOC/VINELink for state-prison custody, BOP for federal custody, and ICE ODLS for immigration custody.

The official BCSO site did not provide public roster fields. The table below records that gap so users do not waste time looking for a county search box that was not found in official sources.

What a Bristol County Inmate Record May Contain

No official public BCSO inmate profile was found, so the inventory below uses official BCSO mail, public-records, custody-total, and statutory-reporting sources. These fields are not a promise that every item will be released in a public-records response. BCSO says it cannot provide CORI or information that specifically identifies an ICE detainee.

Official Access Channels for Bristol County Inmate Records

Records questions should go to the agency that owns the record. Current custody starts with BCSO. Court charges and dispositions belong to the Massachusetts Trial Court. State prison custody is DOC. Federal and immigration custody are separate federal systems.

Public Records Requests to BCSO

The official BCSO public-records page lists Michael C. Arnold as Public Information Access Officer. Requests may be submitted by hand, mail, or email. Use the request for records that are not available through a phone custody check, and describe the record precisely: name, date of birth if known, booking or arrest date, arresting agency, facility if known, and the record sought.

Finding County, State, Federal, and ICE Inmates

Use the system that matches the custody type. A person can be arrested in Bristol County but later released, moved to state prison, held federally, or placed in immigration custody. BCSO's phone line cannot replace those separate locators.

Booking and Intake in Bristol County

BCSO does not publish a simple booking-status page, but PREA materials identify Ash Street Jail as the regional intake area and initial booking point. A person arrested by a local police department may be held for the next court session, bonded out, or transported to Dartmouth House of Correction for booking, admission, classification, and housing if custody continues.

Intake records may begin before a person has a stable housing unit or public court record. PREA orientation, language questions, risk screening, and classification can occur before housing assignment. Court charges, probable-cause review, arraignment, bail, and disposition remain court records, even when custody starts with BCSO.

Visitation Hours and Rules

The BCSO visiting schedule effective May 24, 2026 is unit-specific. Adult and minor visitor forms are required online, visits are non-contact, adults need valid government ID, minors need a birth certificate, and standard social visits are limited to two 60-minute visits per week on different days. Former inmates generally wait six months after release or after being cleared from parole/probation.

Mail, Phone, and Messages

BCSO mail must be stamped, properly addressed, and include the sender's return address. Incoming mail is searched for contraband, and serious contraband may be referred for criminal prosecution. BCSO's legal and privileged mail procedure states that mail is opened and copied in the inmate's presence only to check for contraband, with originals secured and later returned at discharge or authorized written request.
